January 2012
I’ve returned to blogging. Early days here and this is a work-in-progress. It’s been a very soft launch for this blog. No publicity. No sharing on my Facebook or Twitter. That’s because, to be perfectly honest, I’m Facebook-Twitter-fatigued. But please don’t let that stop you sharing.
This personal blog, unless something else grabs my attention, will answer questions people have asked me over the years in my work as a communications specialist who writes and uses video, pictures, weblogs, websites and social media to tell a story. This personal blog reflects my professional skills and interests which merge into personal interests.
Personal Opinions. Maybe that’s why you’re here in the first place. There will be a few opinion posts, to be sure. Any personal opinions expressed here are mine alone, unless otherwise stated. But I hope to leave New Zealand politics alone, unless I feel so strongly compelled to go against my better judgement for the greater good.
When it comes to politics, a few years ago, I founded an online news site called PacificEyeWitness which had a loyal following of decision-makers and community from the Pacific region. It was hard work and those of us involved did so in support of issues facing Pacific peoples around the globe, and in New Zealand, that were largely ignored by mainstream media. But I’ve moved on. It was so much work, all of it unpaid, and there’s only so much one can do on the smell of an oily rag when everyone involved is a volunteer. So been there, done that, and have the T-shirt. And boy, do I have some stories to tell from the PEW days. But that’s for another time and season.
Now I’m at a different junction in my life and my writing interests have shifted dramatically in some ways. The Land of the Long White Cloud has enough political commentators and bloggers. You might well be one of them …welcome.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in communications studies from the Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. I majored in journalism. I work as a communications manager in the government sector managing a small team.
One more thing. Any questions related to my work areas and posts, please feel free to write it as feedback to the post or page.
Thanks for your time. Have a great day.
